Bookshelf Scavenger Hunt Tag

This tag has been on my list to write for a long time, but as it actually takes work which does not include shifting from web tab to web tab as research and actually getting up from my chair, I’ve avoided doing it.

I’m clearly lazy.

Anyway, I couldn’t find out who created this tag, but I found it here. It’s point is to find a book on your bookshelf which fits each question.

1. Find an author name or title with a Z in it.

This has Z in the title and the author’s name!

2. Find a classic.

This is easy, because nearly half my books are classics.

3. Find a book with a key on it.

Surprisingly, this is the only book I own with a key on it. It is an abridged, children version of this classic novel, which I received from my parents when I was five years old (I know since they wrote a little letter to me in the front cover).

4. Find something on your bookshelf that is not a book.

I have a few decorations on my shelf. This is one that my father brought back from India when he visited there when I was a child.

6. Find a book with a girl on it.

I have so many books with a girl on it. This is a series I own the first book of and read it, but I never continued on in the series. I need to eventually.

7. Find a book that has an animal in it.

Who doesn’t love this cute book? And the movie is adorable too.

8. Find a book with a male protagonist.

I have so many books that fit for this, but I’ll go with this one, which features Ged as its male protagonist.

9. Find a book with only words on the cover.

My copy of Oliver Twist has only words on the cover. Also, I just found out today that it is made out of 100% recycled paper. That’s so cool!

10. Find a book with illustrations in it.

I have several books with illustrations, but this is one of my favorites, so cute and weird. Just like the book!

11. Find a book with gold lettering.

This is more yellow then gold, but I’m counting it.

12. Find a diary, true or fictional.

This entire series is presented with the idea that Laurie R. King simply found the dairies of Mary Russell and published them in print. It is fictional, but it’s an interesting format.

13. Find a book written by an author with a common name (like Smith).

I have several “Smith” authors, like Sherwood Smith, and a few other generic names, but I’ll go with this one.

14. Find a book with a close up of something on it.

This is a close-up of Dostoevsky’s face, from a painting done of him.

15. Find a book on your shelf that takes place in the earliest time period.

I think this book covers the earliest era I own. It dates back to the 6th century BC. I do have a few books from Ancient Rome, but that’s still 500 years later.

16. Find a hardcover book without a jacket.

I have a first edition of this book (though I haven’t read it yet) from 1946. However, I bought it used, and there is no dust cover.

17. Find a teal/turquoise colored book.

This is the only book I own which would be considered as turquoise. It is the fourth book of the Frog Princess Series. My cover looks slightly more green than this picture.

18. Find a book with stars on it.

Don’t know if you can see it, but there is a tiny star below the bird’s tail. And yes, that is the best I could do. Apparently I have no books which lots of stars on them.

19. Find a non YA book.

This is also very easy because the majority of my books are not YA. This one just happened to be the first I saw on my bookshelf.
