30 Question Song Challenge

I’ve done a couple tags on my favorite movies, but I’m surprised I’ve never done one on music (which I absolutely love). I was browsing Pinterest the other day (as I’m completely addicted—who needs Facebook and Twitter when you’ve got Pinterest) when I came across this 30 Day Song Challenge. As I usually don’t do 30 Day stuff, I thought I’d do it all in one post!

1. Your Favorite Song

It changes on a weekly basis. However, the one which has always held a special place in my heart is Viva La Vida by Coldplay.

2. Your Least Favorite Song

Um…if I don’t like a song, I don’t listen to it. Thus, I forget about it. So I don’t have a least favorite song.

3. A Song That Makes You Happy

Happy by Pharrell Williams, duh. I smile every time I hear that song.

4. A Song That Makes You Sad

Will Be Back by Im Sun Hae. It’s one my favorite Korean songs and it’s so melancholic, especially when you watch the drama it’s from (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo) and read the English lyrics.

5. A Song That Reminds You of Someone

Greensleeves. It’s a classic medieval song, and one of my Dad’s favorites. He died when I was fifteen and every time I either play the song on the piano or listen to it, I’m reminded of him.

6. A Song That Reminds You of Somewhere

Renaissance Faire by Blackmore’s Night. This is a folk rock band who dresses up in medieval costumes to perform. I loved them back as a teen and every time that my family goes to the Renaissance Festival, we have this song playing. Thus, it reminds me of the Renaissance Fair.

7. A Song That Reminds You of an Event

(They’ll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover by Vera Lynn (1941). This song is all about WWII. It’s an absolutely beautiful song and one my mother introduced to me. Since then, every time I’m reading about WWII, I’m reminded of this song. Not exactly one event, but close enough.

8. A Song That You Know All the Words To

Uh…I know the words to many songs. Say Something by A Great Big World, I See Fire by Ed Sheeran (from The Hobbit), Say You Won’t Let Go by James Arthur…I could go on for a while.

9. A Song You Can Dance To

Fantastic Baby by Big Bang (Kpop boy group). Every time I hear it I want to get up and dance.

10. A Song That Makes You Fall Asleep

Any classical music. One of my favorites is The River Flows in You by Yiruma. It’s such a beautiful, relaxing song.

11. A Song From Your Favorite Band

I don’t listen to a lot of bands, and I don’t have a favorite. I really like Imagine Dragons, though, so maybe the song Demons.

12. A Song From A Band You Hate

I don’t have a band I hate…maybe any hard metal group (it just hurts my ears). Though I did hear this song, You Only Live Once by Suicide Silence, which almost made my ears bleed. Please don’t check it out!

13. A Song That is a Guilty Pleasure

I have no guilt. Though there is this parody of the song Shape of You by Ed Sheeran themed around Resident Evil VII (a video game) by a Youtube channel called First Person Troller. It’s an amazing song, and everyone thinks I’m weird when Shape of You plays and instead of singing “I’m in love with the shape of you, we push and pull like a magnet do,” I’ll sing “I’m in love with the shape of you, especially when I tear you in two.” Yep, it’s a dark song.

14. A Song That No One Expects You to Love

Everyone seems surprised when I say I like Love Yourself by Justin Bieber, because most people assume I don’t like popular pop music (which for the most part I don’t, so that’s fair).

15. A Song That Describes You

Land of Opportunity by A Great Big World. It talks about leaving an old life to find happiness and I feel like I do this frequently.

16. A Song That You Used to Love and Now Hate

I once loved The Climb by Miley Cyrus (when she was on Disney channel and had not lost her mind), but now I listen to it and it just grates on my nerves.

17. A Song That You Hear Often on the Radio

Never Be The Same by Camila Cabello. It’s not a horrible song, but I’m so sick of hearing it.

18. A Song You Wish You Heard on the Radio

Any K-pop songs! Although K-pop is really catching on in America, I have yet to hear any Korean song played on the radio. I’d even take BTS, like their latest single Fake Love (an okay song, though a little pop for me).

19. A Song From Your Favorite Album

I rarely like complete albums. Though, currently I’m obsessed with all the music from The Greatest Showman (the movie was pretty bad, but the music is beautiful). My favorite song on that album is Never Enough.

20. A Song You Listen To When You’re Angry

Gives You Hell by The All-American Rejects? Lol, but really. I usually try to listen to calming songs when I’m angry, like Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms Theme Song by Jason Zhang (it’s a Chinese drama).

21. A Song You Listen to When You’re Happy

I feel like I already answered this…so skip.

22. A Song You Listen To When You’re Sad

Again, I answered this.

23. A Song You Want to Play At Your Wedding

I’m pretty sure I’d pick that song out with my future husband at the time. What songs do you even play at weddings? Romance songs? Maybe something like Perfect by Ed Sheeran or All of Me by John Legend? That would be typical, right? I might play something like Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley (it’s a classic, after all).

24. A Song You Want to Play At Your Funeral

My Way by Frank Sinatra, obviously!

25. A Song That Makes You Laugh

Any song by Tom Lehrer, like We Will All Go Together When We Go or Who’s Next. He’s one of the most underrated singers from the 60s, in my opinion.

26. A Song You Can Play On An Instrument

I play a lot of songs on the piano, but my favorite is probably Always With You by Yumi Kimura (from Japanese movie Spirited Away). It is such a beautiful song! This version I found sounds similar to the level I play it at, though the arrangement is slightly different.

27. A Song That You Wish You Could Play

Claire De Lune by Claude Debussy. It is gorgeous, but it is extremely hard to play. I’m trying to learn, but so far I can only play the first two pages (out of about ten pages).

28. A Song That Makes You Feel Guilty

I don’t have one. Why would a song make me feel guilty?

29. A Song From Your Childhood

I listened to all the basic kids’ songs growing up, but I really liked The Click Five when I was eleven or twelve, and their song Just The Girl was one of my favorites. Looking back, it’s a pretty hilarious song. I mean the lyrics talk about this crazy girl this guy’s in love with. She pushes him in pools and laughs at his dreams. Why did I like this song?

30. Your Favorite Song At This Time Last Year

Ah…I don’t remember. Maybe Something Just Like This by The Chainsmokers and Coldplay (love both groups) or Stay With Me by Chanyeol and Punch (Korean song from a drama called Goblin). Those two probably were my favorites.

I feel like my taste in music is all over the place. I like oldies. I like foreign music. I like some pop music. I like classical. I’m the type of music-lover who dabbles in pretty much every type of genre (except maybe hard metal).

Have you heard of any of these songs? What would be your answers to these questions? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments, follow my blog for more madness and, as always,

Best wishes in your life full of adventure,

Madame Writer
