NaPoWriMo 2018: Day 11

(“The Rondelet is a French form consisting of a single septet with two rhymes and one refrain: AbAabbA. The capital letters are the refrains, or repeats. The refrain is written in tetra-syllabic or dimeter and the other lines are twice as long – octasyllabic or tetrameter.”) (source) (examples at the source, if you understood none of that…like me.)

(For reference, a terasyllabic is four syllables and an octasyllabic is [you should guess this from ‘octa’] eight syllables. Thus, the refrain is in four syllables and the other four lines are eight. Just in case you were confused as me with all those strange terms.)

That Quiet Place

That quiet place

Where you can block out everything

That quiet place

Curl up with books and empty space

Forget the pain and suffering

Recall that contentment filling

That quiet place.

(I hope all of us as readers and writers have a quiet place, where we can find peace to meditate, write, and read. It doesn’t have to be a real place; it can be a state of mind. But I think we should all have a quiet place in our lives!)

  1. I love this! Actually, I just uploaded a ‘Rondelet’ of my own onto my blog. It’s linked below. I’d love it if you would read over it and leave me some tips on how to improve. With your incredible writing technique, I’m sure I can learn a lot from you. Thanks!
