Blogger Tag (original)

I have been looking around for one of these for a while—a tag directed towards bloggers—but as of yet I cannot find one. If you know of one, I’d love to learn about it in the comments. But in the meantime, I decided to create my own! I’m pretty sure this tag is more of a composite of tons of other tags, but let’s go!

Why did you decide to start a blog?

For so many reasons. One of my biggest reasons was to simply write more—to keep up a schedule and learn how to make deadlines. I’m hoping this helps me when, God willing, I become a published author and have major deadlines to keep. Also, I wanted to learn what others thought about books and compare my own thoughts to theirs.

Describe your blog in three words.

Words. Reading. Philosophy.

What’s the story behind your blog’s name?

I think I’ve talked about this more on other people’s blogs than I have on my own. I love the beauty of the French language, and I’m a writer, so I thought Madame Writer was a perfect name. However, since I’m unmarried (and Madame is like saying Mrs.), I knew I should pick Mademoiselle instead of Madame. However, Mademoiselle is a lot harder to spell and say, so I thought I’d make it easier on myself and on readers by picking, while not the best language choice, the easiest word to remember.

Do you prefer writing long blog posts or short ones?

Both, actually! I usually write longer posts, but I also like adding short ones in between. However, I generally prefer longer posts just because you can get more in-depth into any topic, whereas more short posts can be vague.

What is your favorite blog post you have ever posted?

That’s a hard choice. I’m always looking towards the future, so I’m excited about my next blog coming out more than thinking to my past posts. However, a couple of my early ones stand out in my mind, mostly because they were so fun to research, including True Stories Behind Fairytales and “Show Don’t Tell” Is a Lie.

What is your favorite thing about blogging?

My readers. Every time you guys even like one of my posts, or comment your thoughts, I love it. It really makes writing a blog that much more fun. This answer sounds so clichéd, but let’s face it, if no one read our blogs, would we really keep up with them or feel motivated? Just a thought.

What is your least favorite thing about blogging?

The deadlines. I’m used to writing whatever I feel whenever I feel, so to be constantly having to write a blog three times a week is a lot for me. I will say, that it was nice to increase my posts slowly (one a week when I started my blog, two a week, and now three times a week). But there are still many days I just do not want to write anything or I don’t feel inspired. I cannot imagine how some bloggers post multiple times a day!

How much time a week do you spend blogging?

A lot. Way too much than I probably should. I’m taking a break after graduating college to work on my writing, so I tend to spend at least a few hours a day on my blog, whether it’s answering comments, reading other blogs I follow, or writing blog posts. Usually I write most of my blogs for the week on Monday/Tuesday, so I spend more time on those days (like eight or more hours a day).

What is Your Goal for Your Blog/What Do You See For Your Blog in the Future?

To make money? I’m kidding…kind of. I suppose I don’t have a firm goal. Just seeing my blog go from two followers (my sister and mother) to now nearing two hundred is amazing to me. So, if I had a goal, I would say I want my blog to continue growing. The worst thing would be if it dies in burning fire! Since I can’t see that happening, I’m happy whatever happens. I try to live in the present, not worrying about the future or feeling guilty about the past.

As always, I am not tagging anyone in particular. However, if any of you guys do do this tag, let me know. I’d love to read your answers!

Best wishes on your life full of adventure,

Madame Writer
